Rick Sohl, K5RIC, has announced that he has implemented the use of a remote base to make possible the linking of his Buck Mountain repeater, (146.98 MHz/100.0 Hz CTCSS), to the W5GNB repeater, (147.32 MHz/146.2 Hz tone), serving the Roswell area as well as the 147.22 repeater serving the Otero County communities of Cloudcroft and Alamogordo.  Each weeknight from 7:00 to 7:30 PM, the 6.98 is programmed to link up with the 147.32 giving hams within the range of both repeaters the opportunity to check in to the Yucca Two Meter Net.  Each Saturday night at 7:00 PM the controller will link the 146.98 to the 147.22 allowing users of the 6.98 to join the Sacramento Mountains Club for their net.  Rick says one of the main purposes for these new features is to provide better interoperability between the Lincoln/Chaves and Lincoln/Otero County communities during Skywarn and ARES events.
