Hams Enjoy Field Day at Brantley

Many member hams of the Pecos Valley Amateur Radio Club had planned to spend this year's Field Day at Baca Campground near Lincoln, New Mexico. However, devastating wild fires near Ruidoso prompted evacuations and road closings making it necessary to find an alternate location. Several decided to camp at Brantley Lake between Artesia and Carlsbad. Warmer temperatures didn't stop a handful of hams from having a great time with more of a focus on local fellowship than Field Day contesting. Contacts were made, a beautiful moonrise was watched, great food was prepared, a drone was flown, kids played in the water and a good time was had by all.
